Does anyone know if there's another poultry swap scheduled in Sharpsburg after the one this weekend, or is this weekend the last one for the year? Thanks!
I may go to the swap on Saturday to look for two more pullets. I'd like a couple of ducks, but I don't have housing for them. Maybe next year. The previous owner left a very small dog house, but I don't think it's good enough. No ventilation, too small, not varmint proof.
I'm hoping to go to the 3 sept swap. I've moved to 6 acres since the one in the spring, and I'd like to add 2-3 hens. I currently have 1 BO roo and 3 BO hens that just started laying. The roo is going to need more ladies. I hope to take my daughter and grandson this time.
Glad to hear you had a successful sale; sorry about the hatch. I was mainly looking for a rabbit, and there were quite a few. But common sense dictated that I should build the hutch, THEN get the rabbit!
On another note, is anyone going to the Maryland Poultry Swap next Saturday in Sharpsburg? It'll be a long drive for me, but I'm thinking about it. Critters and plants all in one place?! My kind of shopping!
Thanks! Yeah I found New Country Organics online. It'll cost $13 shipping for me from VA, but it may be worth it. It's apparently too suburban where I live, so I can't find a local reseller. We have a TSC and one other farm supply store near me, but they carry what's in high demand, I guess. I'm...
Anyone in Maryland have a source or recommendation for soy-free organic poultry food? A lot of what I'm finding near me, if not all, had soy in it. Yet I thought I read/heard somewhere that soy isn't good for chickens. Maybe I dreamed it. Anyway, I figured if I want to control my egg...
So this is slightly off topic, yet it isn't. I'm considering looking at the western Maryland area, so I can have enough acreage for a small mini-farm/homestead. I see some reasonable listings in Allegany county. Garret county is also pretty. I've camped and hiked at Green Ridge State Park, but I...
Hi ChickityChina!
I too have lurked and explored this site for several years. I recently retired and was considering moving to North Carolina, but I've decided to postpone that for a year, and so I plan to get my 4 hopefully all girls from a local farm supply store. The guy was very helpful...
Hi Fellow Marylanders!
I just joined BYC and get my 4 Buff Orpington chicks hopefully around 24 March! I'm very excited and have found this site to be a wealth of information. I haven't had chickens since I left home many years ago.
