I also live in Texas, central Texas to be exact, HOT!! This is my setup. I used a 10 x 10 chain link dog kennel and put a chicken wire top on it. The tarp on top keeps them dry in the heavy rains. They have a dog crate (behind the grey fan) for them to get into when it is cold. I put hay on the...
Sad...I can't imagine doing that to one of mine. They are soooo spoiled! I quite often tell them how good they have it. They just fuss until I go get their peas!
:ya:ya HI! I'm Here from Texas! Frozen...but here. We STILL have snow on the ground after 3 days! The ducks are NOT happy! Their pool is frozen over and it's too thick for me to get it out. Oh well!
I have had quite a few "soft" eggs. A lot of the time I find them in their kiddie pool. From what I have read, it's normal. Just a new girl getting everything working.
Enjoy your ducks, but beware of "duck math". That's where you decide you just HAVE to have 1 more...and one more....and before...
I wondered about a Jumbo Pekin. Her walking looks like one of my Pekins that is horribly pigeon toed. She waddles all over the place, it is hard to watch her you get sea sick! LOL
I think I answered this on another thread, but if not...I used this
I used it as a separator. They could see each other but not touch. I would divide their enclosure in half. The old ducks on one side the new ones on the other. I used it for about a week when I introduced 3 new KC's to the flock.
I would think it would be okay to put them together AFTER they have been around each other for about a week or so. My husband built me a divider for my duck enclosure. It is a wood frame with chicken wire in the center.

This has worked wonderful for me...
I have no idea what kind of wheat. I wonder why drakes need it and I have never heard anything about hens needing it. I'll keep following this. Good luck!
You're in the right place to find answers! This is a great site!
I have a pekin that has broken her wing. I have wrapped it like I did for angel wing and have her separated from the others. About how long should I leave the wing wrapped? I know with angel wing it was only a week or so. I am figuring a couple of weeks, but would like to hear from people who...
:love
It's normal. You'll be fine. Just read up on how to care for them. It will be messy but you'll survive! Just enjoy! I have 3 Pekins and 3 Khaki Campbells, all hens. They free roaming and cooped at night. I thoroughly enjoy watching them play. And understanding those sayings you have always...
Some ducks are just pigeon toed! Could this be it?
I have 2 hens that step on their feet and nearly fall down quite often, they just learn to live with it. Watching them walk is dizzying! Head goes one way tail goes the other!! It's a hoot!
You might try giving it niacin, but it sounds like it...
