Aloha,
Come on Debi, no need to be humble. We know who you are. You have been raising beautiful Araucanas for many years. I wish I could have bought your eggs years ago. Thatʻs how it goes I guess.
Nice to have you on this thread!
Aloha, Puhi
Aloha,
I donʻt think that Lanae Cash does black Araucanas but she is a top breeder of Araucanas.
For blacks, I recommend Chicken Scratch Poultry and Smoothmule(her handle on this site). Smoothmule has the nicest black Araucanas but is not always selling.

Aloha,
Scroll back a few pages where I believe Smoothmule posted a link to such a study and associated genes. Looks like I didnʻt bookmark it so youʻll have to go look for it.

Aloha Ray-n-Debi,
A few years ago, I was getting some "Araucanas" (Easter Eggers) and when i looked it up I saw pictures of your birds and I was like "WOW!". Immediately turned on to the true Araucanas.
Then I fell in love with Cathyʻs black ones!
Thanks guys, for leading the way...
Aloha,
Isn't rumplessness a dominant trait? So even crosses will end up rumpless.
It's really hard to see what's going on with those little furballs. Please give us more pics later.
The coloring is different too. That circle around the eye looks really cool. Not sure what happens with...
Aloha,
Approximately half will have tufts, 1/4 will not and 1/4 will not hatch. Even though single tufted, it still has the tufted gene. Another part of the DNA controls how much the tufted gene will be expressed.
Aloha, Puhi
Aloha,
Itʻs kind of hard to see but does the two brown ones have single tufts on the right side?
Smoothmule can most likely comment on the colors when she comes by again.
Looks like a good mix.
Aloha, Puhi
Aloha,
Lotʻs of good Araucana eggs on EBay, including some from Cathy! Wish I saw that a year ago! Iʻve been wanting Cathyʻs eggs for about 2 years now! But now Iʻve got tufties coming out of my ears! Pun intended. If you need Araucana eggs, lotʻs of good ones to choose from right now...
Aloha,
I seem to have Cocci in one of my chick pens where a couple died. But the rest didnʻt. So maybe when I let them grow out, they might transfer their antibodies(or ability to make the antibodies) to the next generation. Nevertheless, if it becomes a problem then I might have to get...
Smoothmule,
When I look at the UK type of Araucanas, some of them have cresting and I wonder if that type of araucana in US 1930's might be the ancestor of the Cream Legbar instead of one closer to our present US standardized breed. Interesting.
Aloha
Aloha,
Smoothmule, are you NPIP?
I'mtrying, is that the reason why you cannot have started chicks? Because the same would go for day old chicks, to get NPIP, you have to have eggs, or chicks from only NPIP farms.
I prefer getting eggs myself and have learned how to incubate pretty...
Aloha,
Easter Eggers are cool. They do have more and bigger eggs. But we breed true rumpless Araucanas, aiming for tufts and blue eggs often. Nothing wrong with Easter Eggers, just stop confusing them with Araucanas.....
Kden, Puhi
Aloha,
If you breed tufted to tufted, and put 8 eggs in the incubator, 1/4 or 2 will be homozygous for tufted(TT) and die before hatching. 1/2 or 4 will be heterozygous(Tt) and therefore have tufts. 1/4 or the remaining 2 will not have the tuft gene(tt). So you will have 6 chicks, 4 tufted...
