Anyone here ever make sauerkraut? the nourishing traditions book has a recipe that calls for a few tablespoons of whey so I am trying it. I just started it 2 days ago. I put some whey from my kefir in it the crock with the cabbage and salt.
I am getting 4 babies, they should be here tomorrow! I am so excited haven't had chicks before. The three I have now were already grown when I got them. How soon can I give the new babies kefir??
Right! the older I get the less ideal this spot feels! in the summer I love it.... our little lake is almost free if ice and the loons are back:ya

Is there a difference in the kefir grains when they are larger, do they work faster, better, or slower....? they are older does that mean they should be put out to compost? the new smaller ones kept? I gave some grains to a friend and gave her smaller ones...

I have wondered when you make a smoothie useing yogurt or kefir does the very high speed of the blades effect the probiotics?
