Egg farming is awesome! I now sell chicken and duck eggs at stores all over Oregon and into Vancouver, WA. Demand is insane and trying to keep enough birds laying enough eggs is simply mind boggling. One day we are hoping to start making some money at this. It is a terribly expensive business!

My CX hen lived to almost a year old. She laid her first egg at 16 weeks. I fed her twice per day. She lived with my two silkie hens, so I just put enough in the feeder for the 3 of them to get enough. Then she was free to roam about all day and munch whatever she found. She did not lay...

Hi All! Pull me up a bar stool and pour me a stiff drink! How has Ralphie and JR done at keeping up the Bar and Grill? Holm pm'ed me to see how I was doing and since I was here to read his message, I thought I'd pop in and say hello. I don't have time to read through the thousand or so...

Ok, just checking. Many people don't know how to break their broodies. I had one lady with chickens tell me that she had a couple of hens setting in the nests "for some reason. It started with one and now there is six. I can't figure out what's wrong with them", she said. I told her they...

I have appreciated the crows, like Ralph said, they do keep the predator birds away, but they do steal my eggs. Maybe you haven't seen them do it to you Ralph? The chickens may have cleaned up the evidence. I know mine do. If I hadn't caught the crow yolk-beaked I wouldn't have known either...

I got me two turkey poults today!! They are Naragansetts and we believe they are male and female. From their mannerisms today after bringing them home, that's what I would totally believe and I know nothing about turkeys. We had a resident crow in the duck area that liked to come down and...

Hopefully it doesn't become double ugly! Bwahahaha! It looks really tall and skinny. What do you believe will happen when you breed that beast to the saipan?? You are heading towards ostrich by the current appearance.

All I can say JR is that that chicken face is one only the freezer could love. Lol! Wow, it's weird looking. Chicken sausage is tasty but I've never tried making it.

Yes, Ralph, we do have a large Asian population around here. I think when I'm ready, I will go ahead with Craig's ad for $10 a live head or so and see what happens. Ralph. My ducks don't stink and aren't filthy. I don't understand what was wrong with yours.

I keep hearing that these kinds of ducks aren't meat ducks. Aren't the ones you get in stores Pekins? On an older duck is the meat tough and stringy like stew hens?

Hi All! So unfortunately, I don't think that anyone exists anywhere on this site except for this thread. Whenever I post anywhere else asking a question, I never seem to get any response. I hear crickets and feel like I'm in a Pink Floyd song, "Is there anybody....out there"? Lol! So...
