Hello Highland Spirit I'm from PEI. I got my silver pencilled plymouth rocks from George Nauss in Brookfield, NS, not far from you. I don't know if he is still around because he was over 80 a few years ago, but I am very pleased with the birds that I got from him.

Wow, why the interest in living in PEI? I've lived here all my life. Grew up on a small mixed farm and raised my family on a small farm just 5 miles from where I grew up. My husband and son have been working for the past 7-10 years in Alberta. Hubby is now semi retired, but still doing long...

Hello Brothers No, I don't have an incubator but I do see them advertised on Kijiji quite often. I had good luck last year using Kijiji PEI to sell breeding stock and extra chickens that I had. Good luck in your search. Hatching season is coming up soon. If you know of anyone who has silver...

Finally, a thaw on PEI, and with a couple of feet of snow melted, the chickens can enjoy the freedom of the great outdoors! Four of them found their way to the woodshed, and really wanted to stay there. Do we really have to leave? It's too slippery on this ice! Does she really expect us...

And Merry Christmas to all from PEI Chicken, too! I have 12 laying hens and 2 roos. I'm waiting until it warms up a bit before they can get together to breed. Some people are wanting fertile eggs. Right now I am only getting 3 eggs per day, and these are from the 2013 pullets. Lots of snow...

Hello Stussy Welcome to BYC! Good to see another Maritimer here. No problem to keep most breeds in our Canadian winter; they'll be fine without heat, as long as they have fresh water and a dry place out of the elements.

Hi BunkyB Good to hear from you. I know where Pictou is. Used to travel to Cape Breton often, but now that my daughter is back on PEI I don't make the ferry trip often. There is a poultry show in Borden PEI in May. If you look up the PEI Poultry Fanciers site you will learn when. I got...

Hello Milli Good to see another Islander here! I have a small flock of silver-pencilled Plymouth Rocks. It is increasing as we chat, because there are 20 eggs in an incubator upstairs and 5 chicks in the downstairs bathroom under a heat lamp. Will be moving these outside this week (with the...

These are the first 5 chicks to my Silver pencilled Plymouth Rock flock in 2013. I am building a temp pen in my woodshed, so hope they won't be in the house very long. When they are fully grown, they will look like these: If any Canadians are interested in buying some hatching eggs...
