FRF, thegawd popped into the dedicated PSO thread to give an update. Not a hack, just a seriously bad bandwidth leak. Everyone can see it here. I can't express enough how relieved I am that they weren't hacked. It's one thing to have a glitch, another to have someone maliciously attack. I just...

She most certainly does, FRF. That's why after a few days of the server going down I was getting concerned & we did the WhoIS lookup. I know forums/servers have their bumps, and she just did a switch/upgrade, so stuff sometimes happens. But this...ugh...I'm so hoping it's not the...

Oh that's bad. Really bad. We did a WhoIS on the site, it looks like it was re-registered May 11th to a company/address in Washington. I don't want to be all doomsday here, but if it is out of the owner's hands then it's possible the site was hacked/DDOS'd or a keylogger caught the...

Anyone from PoultrySwapOntario migrating here, even if temporarily? Their forums have been down for a few days, possibly hacked but can't be sure. I like to use both BYC for international & PSO for local chatter. If you're from PSO give a holler so we can find each other & hook up on BYC!^^...

That's a nice idea! I could utilize something like that for my large roost. Esp with the turkey nesting with the chickens. When she poops it's like dropping a small nuke below.

To add more...since I'm very visual-based & like sharing pics. :) This is what my coop floor currently looks like... With video so you can see a bit more: All I did was rake up a ton of leaves & toss it in a big pile in the middle of the coop. I didn't even spread it out. The birds did...

Is your floor just dirt? I wouldn't be adding sand on top of that & then deep litter on top of that too. Or the birds will mix it together & you'll end up with way too sandy compost. I also have a VERY sandy soil here - this whole area/town is built off of marshland, so they raised it up with...

I've turned an old shed into my coop, it has a cement floor. On top of that I add deep litter. It's wonderful. Save for when I had ducks, I didn't have to do much with it. Just scoop once or twice a year. Manure went either in a pile or early on the garden beds for a quick & hot boost. Deep...

I second the PP comment; mixed reviews. You're definitely getting hatchery stock from them. But from personal experience they do seem to be trying their best, despite mix-ups, re-schedules & the likes. Skara Brae has been nothing but kind. Unfortunately, she has been very busy this year, but...

Yikes, that is pricy. That's what I dislike about this area. It's often either sickly, inbred mutts for an average price, or super rare breeds of okay quality/health for an arm & a leg. :(

Hello! I'm a little slow to respond here, but glad I caught this! I think we have talked yes. We might try her again next Spring. Right now I'm down to just Barnevelder hens & one EE roo. I'm hoping to get a few other varieties as well as a Swedish Flower Hen. Though a new friend I made...

Do you ferment your feed at all? If you moisten it so they'll eat the powdery stuff then fermenting isn't really much of a bigger step than what you're already doing. Fermenting also helps reduce the anti-nutrients in the grains.

Oh yes for sure, she is a very wonderful person. I couldn't agree more. I'm sad she was/is dealing with so much & I sincerely hope things get better for her soon. Thank you FRF & Trop for letting me know she's picking up again. And trust me, I'm using every ounce of patience I can muster to...

Skara Brae has been MIA for months now. I've tried contacting her via her site & via PSO. I'm not the only one whose been trying to contact her to no avail. She's just...gone. Hopefully everything's okay for her. Also, Trop there are so many people out there with 'good intentions' that it's...

Oh dear! Well I don't mind making friends elsewhere, it's just that after a year of living in this new home I've still yet to find local chicken keepers who want to keep up contact. Usually everyone I meet online who lives in Ontario, ends up being around Toronto or far in the South-West. So...

Took a semi-long hiatus from BYC & other chicken forums over much of the Spring/Summer. Lots to focus on at the little farm & my other hobbies. Now things have started slowing down so I've more time for chicken talk. I'd love to look for some friends in the Ottawa, Ontario area. Anyone who...

I'm in eastern Ottawa area. I have available Japanese Coturnix Quail males at 7-8 weeks. No hatching eggs till Spring as I'm looking for another breeder North of me to refresh my line. My original stock is from the Perth region. Might want to look there (on Kijiji for sure) as that's far closer...

It'd have to be hatching eggs. But definitely the SFH for sure! My only two other options are a breeder in Quebec that charges outrageous prices & a farm in the US which might ding me at the border. :/ Thanks!
