I have a Muscovy, some African geese and some BLRW bantams that need a ride south...I can wait until Thanksgiving when I'm going to Portland but didn't want to have to wait that long...or have a screaming 1.5 year old in the car with honking geese, crowing roosters and smelly poultry! LOL
Well, you're close enough that I could also hatch out for you. :) I have a Brinsea and so far I'm getting pretty high hatch rates with shipped eggs in it...
Yes, I'd be interested in figuring out where we could hold something like this...I'm sure there's a park or something...we'll just need...
What breeds do you have? I was thinking of having it somewhere in Wenatchee--maybe at a park?? Somewhere we won't have to pay to rent and won't get kicked out for having lots of poultry around. Of course, we'd have to get permission first...but I think it's very do-able. :)
Yes...it's for buying/selling/trading. You don't have to bring anything or trade with anyone. It's kind of like a chicken-holic's convention! LOL
The last one I coordinated, we just stuck to waterfowl/poultry and related-items--like incubators, brooders, coops (yes, someone brought some...
Just putting out some feelers to see if anyone would be interested in a Eastern Washington Poultry Swap? This fall--and/or next (late) spring? We have nothing like that around here (that I'm aware of) and it's needed....
So far....we're still good. We had a HUGE rain & thunder storm last May (on Memorial Day) that flooded almost everything and washed away huge sections of the county road...

I had always read that crows are not a threat to chickens, and that they are actually helpful in chasing away and fighting off the hawks (apparently crows hate hawks). I have never heard of a crow attacking a chicken--no matter how big those crows are.
Crows and Ravens will eat chicks...

My coop is a large 4ft wide x 9 1/2 ft long... (4 1/2 ft x 10 ft roof overhangs). It's BIG for a movable tractor. I'm going to have to rig wheels or a dolly or something when it comes time to move it around. I've just finished up the hardware cloth last night. Just have the run door...

What are the dimensions? Would you be interested in building me a few? My DH has said he will not be building any more coops for me and I NEED some more for my bantams. I wouldn't need them to be finished or even portable....just framed in.

Yeah... good idea... Thanks 4312!
I think I may now want to try and hatch my own chicks! This chicken stuff is cool!
I'll post over there too!
Cheers!
I'll have lots of hatching eggs this spring....I only have rare breeds, though...my MIL does have black Australorps (pet quality).

Thanks for the "show and tell" and answering all my newbie questions this afternoon Jean!
That is a very neat operation you run and those are some very pretty birds you have.
Please let me know if you decide to separate with that beautiful, lavender, "clean-faced", non-standard pullet...
pips&peeps :
You can come get some blue eggs from me. I have a friend in the valley that has a couple marans, so I could get you a very dark egg or too also. She also has white egg layers.
I just wanted to give a good word for you....I have seen your birds and personally bought some Sebbie...
It was actually RAINING here last night and 34 degrees! It's really cooled off now though...and all of my birds are now outside (well, their pop holes are open so they have the option of going outside in the snow). I'll have to take some pictures this weekend of my birds in the snow.
They are...
