Gosh, everything I read says wet pox is rare. I never even suspected it. This is horrible :( I am so worried :(

Thank you for your kind words. Unfortunately he passed away yesterday. The injuries that I thought were from fighting, was actually fowl pox. He had growths all over his mouth and throat, so that's why he was not eating. I have never seen it so bad before. What a horrible way to die :( I think...

His face is badly beat up, but I have seen turkeys with horrible injuries and they usually start eating within a few days. It has been over a week now, and he is just more and more lethargic. He is scared of me now, and moves to the far end of the yard when he sees me. I think he is going to...

The offender is out of the picture. His other brother is his BFF and will not leave his side. They call to each other if they can't see each other. The 6-month poults stay near him too. I think turkeys will stay close to weak flock members. I tried to grab him to force him to eat today, but he...

Is there anything I can do to cheer him up?

I need some reassurance :( My tom turkey got in a fight with his brother, the fighting stopped 4-5 days ago but he just stands in the yard hunched over, barely eating or drinking. He is a big boy so I don't think he will starve to death, but I'm worried he might have internal injuries. Is this...

I get it now, thank you. It would be helpful for people like me, if the page was already pre-filled with an example :)

I was trying to put in the pattern for a bronze turkey. I didn't get any results but I might be doing it wrong.

Thank you for making this tool. How do I see the results after putting in my turkey's color pattern?

Thank you! Is it possible to tell from light tipped/dark tipped breast feathers for this variety?

Can someone help me sex this black turkey? It is a little over 4 months old, but might have stunted growth because of poor nutrition. I assume the bronze one is male, because he had poop shaped like "J". Front: Back: Any ideas on the blue slate, also? From the same litter. Thanks!

Porter's only lists mature weights for chocolate turkey (33 lbs) and pencilled palm (25 lbs). are all the other varieties the same size as the chocolate, or something in between? i can't stop looking at their site, i wish @Molpet had not posted that link

My non-nesting turkey hens always hung out with the chickens, away from the toms.

Yeah, my turkey hens always stayed together and roosted in their coop. After the poults hatched, the hens roosted farther away and all got eaten by predators. I think they were trying to get away from the toms. I don't know if I should have any hens if turkeys prefer to only be with their own...

Is there any time of year when turkey hens enjoy the company of males? Even during mating season, I only saw my turkey hens roosting and foraging with the chickens. There must have been some mating because the turkey eggs hatched, but no socializing that I know of.

About 5 wild males have joined my flock. They don't bother anybody, just drink my water and eat my grass. I have 3 toms of my own, they seem to be friendly with the new guys. I would not mind if my toms called in some hens (I don't have any turkey hens) but they are only bringing boys to the...

If an 8 week old poult struts for one second, and I hear a faint "thump", does that mean it is a male?

8 weeks is nothing. This "baby" was still following "mom" when he was 5 months old!
