I think I just got my second first egg. 22 hours after my first egg and slight difference in color and shape.
Yesterday's egg is on the left. Today's egg is on the right. What do you think? 22 hours apart.
Today may be the day. I have 1 of my 20 1/2 week old pullets sitting on the nest box with her beak slightly parted. In a soft pant kind of way. She been in there for about 30 minutes so far. I'm excited.
Just went to the store to grocery shop. I gave in and bought my girls a head of cabbage. I told them no more cabbage until I see at least one egg.
What can I say, I'm a softie and they love cabbage. They turn 19 weeks tomorrow.
False alarm a few minutes ago. Outside waiting for my 9 year oldso bus to come. We heard a huge racket coming from the nest box. The egg song was so loud. She proudly walks out the chicken coop with her 18 week old bright red comb, sort of strutting in a way.
My uncle looks inside the nest box...
I'm going crazy with mine just turning 18 weeks today. I can't imagine how you are feeling.I am already having a hard time wondering if they are happy, am I doing enough. They seem so happy but no eggs. This was taken a few days ago
Ok,I'm putting my foot down. I'm out of eggs. My girls are 17 1/2 weeks old. I REFUSE to buy another dozen of tasteless, expensive, horrible store bought eggs.
I have several with big,red combs. 2 for sure are squatting when Johnny Mack mounts them. It could be tomorrow or 2 months from now...
16 1/2 weeks. Ugh the wait is killing me. Pretty red combs on 4 of my 16 girls. More than 1 finger clearance in between pelvic bones on 3 of them. Singing egg song for a week.
I think they are torturing me intentionally. They get a kick out of seeing me check the nest boxes 100 times a day.
