After being gone all winter I am back! I have been hatching for a month now, mostly my delawares and coturnix. Rit now I have around 250 in the bator and many more to set soon! Got my mega bator finally just have to get it put together and running, just in time for spring! This Friday I am...
 When I really want to hatch out some of my birds to add to my flock every egg that isn't cracked goes into the bator if they are dirty I do wash them. My hatch rates have been great even with the washed eggs and the odd shaped ones.
rippy, have you thought about putting that Good Shepard rooster in with just regular barred rocks because if you were I would HAVE to buy some eggs from you....hint hint
I know I can't fill it, but it would be fun. I don't actually see me using it too much. The electric bill would skyrocket and with that much empty space I would always feel like I had to get more eggs in it.
I know! My wife just rolled her eyes when I told her about it. She asked me how the heck am I ever going to fill it and I just looked at her and said "I guess I need more chickens!"
I hit the motherlode for an IA member. I went and looked at an incubator last night that is owned by the local pheasant club. They do not use it anymore and haven't for a few years. One of the members has it at his house and said they might GIVE it to me as long as I promise to hatch some...
Uh oh! I may be in trouble! My wife and I have come to the decision that one of us need to quit our jobs to stay home with our three kids. Daycare is too expensive making it pointless for both of us to work. My wife wants me to quite. What I am doing is just a job not a career. My wife is in a...
I have had them get stuck before and hatch fine, they will come loose from turning, but that was with an auto turner which turns them around 12 times a day ( I think)
Oko I found they will work, so I can put my RIR over thm to get a gold colored sex link. So that will be one way I could use them. I do already have delawares for rsl but I could see how they compare.
Yeah that seller has them listed severel times... I am going to stick with whatever hatches to see if I like them. She sent 13 eggs so if I can get at least 6 to hatch I will be happy and go from there. The problem is they aren't the rosecomb RIW,they are the single combed hatchery type RIW.
I need to stay away from eBay I think. Someone had 2 dozen Swedish flower hens for sal for $40 shipped! I didn't mean to but somehow I bought them!
Same thing happened last week when I found some rhode island whites that we're a good price. I just can't help myself! :D
