    Pekin Duck Club!

Adorable pics. I have a Daisy too. Her mate is Albert. He seems to be wearing her out, mating her 1-2 times a day and she looks tired. I was looking for another female and think I have finally found one the same age. I will put them in the same area but fence between them for a few days...

Thanks for the info everyone. I don't think I'll risk it. I would be upset if something happened to one of the chicks.

Has anyone had any luck hatching pekin eggs naturally? I usually just remove the eggs and sell them but am thinking I may leave a couple for her to sit on. Silly question but... will she just keep laying a new egg each day in the nest? How long will it take for them to hatch? I thought I...

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. I think I will wait for spring and separate the coop. Then I don't have to worry about the cold. I can let them see each other for awhile. I'm chicken they will fight and someone will get hurt. Lol

I would like to add a female so that should work. Thought I would add two that have been together. Should I keep them separate for awhile or just add them in? We don't have two coops so not sure how I would separate them

    Pekin Duck Club!

Finally, a day that isn't beyond freezing. Everyone got to go outside and spread their wings. Albert and Daisy were honking and running in circles. Albert kept running over, nibbling on my boot and then running in circles as if to say "chase me." The second I would start after him he would...

Mine could float down to the ground when they were younger, when we picked them up. Not now though. I would be afraid they would hurt themselves. They are pretty heavy. Winter has been cold here so they get a small dish of warmed porridge and peas every night. God forbid I miss a night...

Our Pekin started laying in July. She has missed maybe 4 days since. We sell the eggs for $3 for 6. I have people lined up and waiting though. Pretty sure you could get more. We are in Ontario, Canada. When I finish the barn we will get a couple more females. I have a pair (1 male and 1...

    Pekin Duck Club!

I offer mine their treat from my hand first. That's how they get it so they really have no choice. While they are nibbling it I pet them gently on their chest. Then I give them the rest of their treats in their pan. They got used to that and now expect it if not enjoy it. LOL I started...

    Pekin Duck Club!

I'm not sure mine like to be cuddled but they know that if they let me get my cuddling over with they get a bit of cat treat in their heated water bucket. It's more of a "come on Mom, be done" but it works for me. lol

Does anyone know whether I should trim my Pekin's toenails. They seem kind of long now. Thinking cat nail cutters and taking a bit off (like trimming dogs?)

We would like to get a doe to milk, I would like to make yogurt, soap, cheese, ice cream and a wether (think that's the term) to keep her company. Really for pets but with the added bonus of using the milk. Just two of us at the house now so don't think we need more milk than that. Actually...
