Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

they will eat some but it's just grit. The food tastes better so never had issues with them overdoing the sand. I use play sand and sift. i keep forgetting about PDZ. I hear if they eat that it's ok too.

Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

just to update: I make sure on the large plate that the press and seal wrap covers the tops of the legs. I had issues with sand and such getting in where the leg slides. It's perfectly cleanable, but would rather not have to :)

Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

no not at all. But before I tried it , some of the reviews said the top gets warm and the yellow sticker on top kind of implied it. Now that I have it going I see that the top doesn't get warm I just put on the glad cling wrap too! It works great!

Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

it's not back ordered right now, but last spring they had upwards of 2 months for a wait list. I was worried when people saw the quality of the item in the pics, there would be the same situation. So I placed my order before posting the pics ;) The first one I got in about 5-6 working/shipping...

Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

So i got the big premiere plate in and wanted to wait to post pics and say how I adore it….until I could order more without facing a backordered product :) I love it! I'm including pics of how it looks. I feel it is VERY well built. I also have 2 smaller brinseas. The brinseas, I've actually had...

Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

I just got my plate in from Premiere. Looks very well built and easier to adjust than my small brinseas. Was wondering a couple of things: I usually put Glad Press n Seal on the brinsea to keep it clean. Will the top of the Premiere get too hot to do that? I haven't tried it yet but heard it...

Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

Ok i'm getting ready to order my premiere plate. Is it still true that you don't need the cover? I hate cleaning my brinseas off and wondering about the cover for the premiere. I use a thick cling wrap over the brinsea, but still. poop is no fun :)

Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

Did premiere ever come up with a way to adjust the temp? Last year I thought that was something they were thinkin about. I have 2 small brinseas and thinking on getting the bigger premiere now.

Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

So are the big plates a danger for smothering and suffocation? Never heard of the problem like the meat birds had.

Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

Thank you for the update. Many of us are watching. I have a question though: I've heard of Premier1, but didn't realize there's another by Comfort Chicks. They look a lot alike. I would assume they're different, but they're sites are hard to tell the differences. Another one to compare...

Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

I did read the entire thread but it seems no one I've found has used it yet on their chicks. (At least that's what I recall. Read over it the past couple of days). Except one person who's chicks wouldn't go under it but was thinking that was because it may be too high up. Another concern was: if...

Is anyone using the Premier "heat plate" brooder for chicks?

ok can anyone tell me about their experience with the Premiere1? I'm really on the fence between the two. I'd like to see how those who have it like the Premiere. Is it working well? How about getting hotter than the Brinsea? Is that causing problems? I assume it's not a fire hazard, but that...
