I am doing an experiment watching feathers on their legs develop. Is there anyway you can take photos at eye level so I can see the feathering on their upper legs - at the point of hock? - If so, thank you in advance.
Great info WV - thank you.
Good luck on your hatch - wow 104 - I bet your heart sank!! You'll have to post this weekend and let us all know what happened.
My chick # 1 has a beak issue. The lower mantle doesn't line up with the upper mantle. It needs braces. Guess it will be okay. Have...
Hi WV - thanks for asking. They are fabulous!! Really thought I'd have more sizzle feathers due to how long their baby down was. I have one frizzled feather. Two are sparing already - am guessing they are boys. The frizzled feathered one spars a tad bit too. One just runs from the sparing...
I say "Sizzles" - an intentional mixing of silkie to bantam cochin. The head tuff and feathered legs are telling. Here is a picture of my young sizzle pullet - 4 months old. She has 5 toes, black skin, blue ear lobe, walnut comb - basically what you are trying to get with sizzles. She is my...
Hi all,
We are attempting to breed some sizzles for our own enjoyment - no to sell, not to show - just to enjoy as hobbyists.
Our daddy bird is a show silkie. The mom is a bantam frizzled cochin. They've had two clutches. The first one resulted in one hatch - a beautiful pullet -...
WVduckchick
can you take some up close photos of the ones you think are frizzled so I know what to look for as mine hatch over the next few days.
my goal is frizzled.
thanks!!
I have always had a silkie hen that was broody and would raise the chicks. With trying for sizzle chicks, the silkie isn't broody now so I invested in a small incubator. It is Janoel 12. From the utube video my husband found, you increase the water level in the base to increase the...
Thank you. I have been candling them every day and was worried that I was doing it too often. It is day 4 and I'm seeing veins. Why do you mark air cells? Learning here!
Thank you. We have 5 - only one was a pullet...Doggone it. We are keeping the frizzled cockerel. It is killing us to give up the white one. He is sooooo sweet. Will be a wonderful addition to someone's home and family.
Southern California - We have 3 sizzle cockerels at just turned 11 weeks old. We need homes for them. If interested, please let us know. They've been raised in our home and are super friendly and tame.
Anyone in Southern California want a cockerel?
We have 3 available - 10 weeks old - father is a black show Silkie. mom is a white bantam cochin - frizzled.
They have been hand raised in the home and extremely tame. Two patridges and one white - smooth feathered.
Happy chicken day!!
Here is my first sizzle - she is from a black show quality silkie and a white frizzle cochin bantam. I think she is a girl. She is 12 weeks old almost to the day.
Do you agree she is a pullet??
Roo Pooh is my great little guy. Love him. Sweet sweet sweet rooster. Can't complain. I tuck him under my arm and let him meet house guests and tote him around. He just goes with it. So, I did get a really nice little guy out of the deal. Though I don't need or want roosters.....sigh
