My 24 birds all snuggle together on 4' of roost and poop board 24"deep in 3-4 rows rather than spread out over the 16' I have provided (plus I have a 4' long by 1' wide ladder they can roost on). Fourteen are 25 weeks and 10 are 15 weeks so I'm hoping they'll spread out a bit when they get...

Just as an FYI, if you take the bag of PDZ into the coop, then get called out of the coop by someone and leave the PDZ alone for 5 minutes, the chickens will peck holes in the bag and PDZ will be everywhere while the chickens have a PDZ spreading party

Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

It was, but the way I see it, I would've went through way more than that in litter so far since I haven't had to clean out my coop yet and wont have to until at least next spring. It's also not so bad when you consider I covered almost 30sq ft with PDZ. It cost $40 to cover the floor of my...

Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

I have one board that is 2' wide and spans two 8' walls of my coop (L-shape). I think I used three 25lb bags of PDZ and I desperately need to add 1-2 more bags because it wasn't totally full, but it's lasted since April.

Mine did the same thing at first. Now they're 15 weeks and starting to spread out a bit, not a lot, but baby steps lol. I'm sure as they get older they might start to appreciate personal space a little more It does make scooping the board quicker though!

My chicks don't go anywhere near the nest boxes yet, they're only 14 weeks and at this point and they're either in the run or on the roosts. When we first moved them in, they explores the nest boxes for a couple weeks until they got good at roosting so high.

I only have one roost bar. My chicks are still yourng 13 weeks and some roost on the bar and some on the ledge of the tray which is only 1/2" wide lol. As of right now there is poo from front to back so I can only imagine it will be the same once they're full grown and all roost on the bar...

Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

I still don't have a scoop and I've had poop boards for over a month. I keep forgetting to buy one when I go to the store lol. I made one using an old gardening shovel handle and wrapping 1/2" wire mesh around the end. It works but its heavy and my boards are 4' off the ground. Thanks for...

Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

Thats a hard question, I have 17, 12 week old chicks in the coop for at least a month and havent had to add more yet. I'm getting close to needing more but only because I only had a thin layer to start with; maybe a 1/2". I started with 120lbs for 16' of 24" boards (includes a corner so not...

Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

I would extend it to the width of the bottom cabinet or 24"; whichever is easier. The problem of making it the width of the nest boxes is if they perch on the edge of the tray, the poop will fall to the cabinet below. I used 2X4's for the perch because we get below freezing and the width helps...

Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

Mine are 24" wide and the roosts are probably 8-10" high. My boards are 4' off the ground with the nest boxes under and it works very well. My only problem is not all of my 10 week olds roost on the perch; they still tend to cluster together and some will roost on the ledge. Hopefully they...

PDZ does dry the poo and eliminate odors but is not the same as DE. PDZ is just a mineral and doesn't do anything for parasites like DE does.

All I could get was the granular PDZ and it works great, very little sticks to the poo so it'll last a long time. Sounds like Keep 'er Fresh should work just fine.

I think the roost looks good where its at. Mine use the tray board to jump off of. Your tray is close to the wall but its not too high so it looks like it shouldwork great. The sweet PZD is just like kitty litter, just add more as it is needed. You could use it on the entire floor but it...

Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

Yes it can, it's just a ground mineral. It mostly dries the poo rather than completely covering it like kitty litter does. I'd never thought I'd look forward to scooping poo lol, I was so excited when when they used the poo tray.
