chicks at 1 week, finally downloaded the camera
Megatron - SLB (my husbands "manly chicken" he adores this guy)
Dookie - BLRW (my son named him this because EVERY SINGLE time we held him he would poo at least 3 or 4 times)
all the rest, ready to go outside to their bigger brooder. man...
finally replaced the camera batteries :) we have 3 dominique x, 3 ee, 3 silver laced brahmas (ok, i have to tell you. my husband named them Megatron, Optimus Prime, and Ultra Mega Chicken) 6 blue laced red wyandotte, 1 gold phoenix, and 1 i dont know what it is.
its fun reading about all the hatching going on. cute little chicks everyone, thanks for posting pictures. i did get to the store, but i forgot batteries, so my pictures wont get up anytime soon. by the time i get some these chicks might be living outside!
last night my heat light exploded all...
i had a mixed hatch this time from different people, BLRW, SLB, EE, and a handful of mutts
the 2 miracle babies were silver laced brahmas, so of course i HAD to wait impatiently and not let a single one lay there and perish.
they're all so beautiful and fluffy, i have to go to the store tonight...
my hatch is done with 16 babies. it was a stressful weekend, most of my chicks were hatched on or before friday day and i had one egg in there pipped for over 30 hours so i started messing with it in my complete impatience. for 12 hours i would take off a little shell and put it back in the...
melissa rose those are adorable. what kind of quail are they? i usually see the striped brown ones, never these yellow fluffies, so cute! whats their size comparison?

you are super lame
with your stupid chicken stuff
but i still love you
i came home to 8 chicks!
i really appreciate all your ideas about dividers. believe me, i'm taking notes for my next hatch!
you all are the best source of information so please tell me how high is too high for humidity during lockdown? mine is at 78%
ooh, i'm really sorry to hear that. what happens to the chick if they pip the wrong end? is there a way to help or just hope for the best?
i freaked out a bit and tried to make a divider out of a piece of screen, that did not work out so well. i decided to just keep one egg carton divider in...
thanks for that, i just needed the little push. was a good thing i listened. as i was candling for lock down i noticed an internal pip and when i was going through the other eggs this one kept 'beeping' at me. i have 5 different breeds hatching and in an effort to separate them i put paper egg...
i think i am on day 18 today. i set the night of jan 20, anyone want to help me with my math? i candled 2 random eggs when i got home from work and i think there is still room to grow, but maybe it'll fill up in 3 days? i'm worried if i lock down today its too early, and if i lock down tomorrow...

i didnt pull anything, but i am fairly certain i have 10 infertile eggs (out of 32) turning with the rest of them. maybe i'm wrong tho so i wont pull til next time i candle - or when things start to...
