Splash would explain why he threw gorgeous goldneck birds with the pale goldneck (buff mottled?) hen.
His goldneck babies won BB BV for cockeral and BB RV for pullet against all other d'Uccles at the larger show.

Wow. Maybe it's good that we have similar goals and programs but are so far away. We can confirm one another's findings...
The color is the same with MF roo x lav hens as it is with lav roo over mf hens. I hatched chicks half and half to see if there was a difference in feathering out...

None of my splits are old enough to be laying just yet. I'm dividing them up based on gender and foot feathering right now. Have way too many boys, so early foot feathering is a must for survival. These boys aren't worth...

Bummer. Sorry about the surgery thing. I actually wanted to bring some birds to YOU
I can't hatch anything until 1/1/11. I promised no more birds until 'next year'. Better that way if this winter is as bad as last winter was. My youngest birdsa rea already unhappy with lows in teh...

Sukzzz your so far away because I would be interested in working with you, and we could kill 2 birds w/one stone (so to speak). Seems we're working on similar projects/goals and i know from my point it would certianly benifit my black program too. Yep, Plan B2... (sigh)
I know! I...
Plan B is to find someone with a chicken addiction, plus space, plus curiosity, AND who already has some of my MF offspring who will take a few of my black mottled project birds.
If someone else crosses them back to MF, and documents the results for me, then I can work on a different cross...
Wow! WildChild has a lot of white to him. I'm not sure my young 'un will have that much white.
I'm sad. I thought I might have a partner in raising my flock of splits but it fell through. I really don't have enough space to keep ALL the chicks that passed the first 'cut' (I cull heavily for...

I crossed a buff d'Uccle with a porcelain and got some chicks like the one you are describing. The buff on the edges are so mild that I entered her in the show as a white d'Uccle just to see if I got corrected. I didn't.
Since they are hatchery, you'll just have to breed them to see...

Goldneck is sort of a catch-all name for splash d'Uccles. While they really should be gold, splash can be expressed in a lot of different ways.
Hmmm....maybe I should order myself a whole bunch of golden necked ones from a hatchery and breed them with white! I think that will get me...

No, the golden necked D'Uccles I have seen in pictures are gold. My pullet is white with buff- like a buff orpington around it's neck area and blended some.

I think the genetics of the darker birds is just stronger on the non-wattle. Like they are just closer to the original perfection that those Belgian gentleman bred for a hundred years ago.
I love how my golden boy has turned out, though, despite the wattle. His saddle is a rich, dark gold that...

My Goldneck cockeral has small wattles but still more than I wanted, an more than my MF roo does. And yet the Goldneck was picked as BB BV at the most recent show over the MF roo who used to win BB BV regularly.
GypsyChic, I have some pics of my little blackbirds on my facebook...

These topics become too large...
Yes. And the coops become too full as you breed the minimum number of offspring to accomplish the desired results. Much to my husband's dismay....
I am learning though!
My lavenders were split to mottled. They never had any mottled offspring when bred...

To confirm: a goldneck hen that throws goldneck chicks when crossed with a MF roo is dominant white?
If so, Yay!!!!!!!
And potentially one less roo to keep over the winter.........
