That tomato juice would burn with a cut! Glad he was able to help out.
its not just a cut, i laid the flesh and skin back, so aways will have a scar(i don'tworry about scars tho) it will take a long while for heal down deep
i got 18 quarts of whole tomatoes, with about the same left in tomatos to ripen

I understand, everything is so up in the air. I've been wanting my son to come out around his birthday (Sept. 25th) but we don't know if it will work out this year or not.
yes, hoping everything i'm hearing is wrong, what i'm hearing is that things are going to get a lot worse than what people think, foods suppose to be really short

Good morning Sharron! :frow

That's why we got back into gardening, chickens and started raising rabbits! Because of the possibility of a food shortage! I hope it turns out better than we think it will!

we never got out of chickens or gardening, i just started planting and canning more, chickens about the same, not rabbits tho, husband doesn't have the heart to kill rabbits anymore and i sure don't unless its suffering, and to think i used to hunt when younger, guess if i was hungry i could kill again :idunno
I don't particularly enjoy killing the rabbits either, but we wanted to be prepared and have an alternate protein source just in case! We were planning on doing a lot of traveling that's why we were getting out of gardening & animals! Ah well, plans change and it's best to try and roll with it the best you can!

if i was hunting, i had no problem shooting something to eat but after i married didn't have to hunt, husband had a good job so i kinda got used to buying meat, but his mother and father were great gardners and i learned from her how to can and to this day i still use a water bath canner for a lot of things, just bought a pressure canner and i hate it but have to go with the times, as for meat we have kune-kune pigs, i have the chickens that we can hatch and raise for eggs and meat and we have a friend that raises beef that we buy so we're set for food, if things get bad our son(lives right next door) can also have food

How many degrees would you like Jae? We can spare 30 minimum.

🤣 I had to go and use a conversion calculator to work out how much that would be. That might be a little more than I'd prefer. It would dry up the mud pretty quick though, having had more than an inch overnight.

We are hoping our fire will be installed by the end of the week. It's not so much the heat I miss it's how dry a fire kept the house. It's such a humid climate here and the humidity is always bad inside, but even worse outside (so unless we got an expensive dehumidifying ventilation system installed one of those wouldn't do any good).

I've had a pressure canner for years and I just bought a new one, but I do both pressure and hot water bath! I also learned canning from my MIL and she actually gave me my first pressure canner on our first Christmas after we were married. I like the idea of raising my own meat...you know what goes into it. Right now I would have a harder time dispatching any of my chickens than the rabbits! I think it's because I look at them differently. My husband dispatches the rabbits very humanely (I'm honestly glad that I don't have to, but I would be able to do it if needed) and we both clean them. We bought a 1/2 beef from a friend and we are raising a couple of pigs, but we don't have breeders and there's no guarantee as to the availability down the road. I am hoping to raise some chickens for meat next year...I wanted to this year, but it just hasn't worked out. We are also doing all of this to help our children if needed!
