I am only going to have 4 chickens total in my flock, and I was wondering if getting different breeds is encouraged or frowned upon. I live in Boston so it gets quite cold here... but if it was encouraged I would get 2 rhode island reds, 1 buff orpington and 1 barred Plymouth Rock.
Any thoughts on mixing breeds or the ones I have chosen? They will be used for egg laying, and the better tasting eggs I get the better. Id love to hear your thoughts!
