Australorp Hatch-A-Long

Those sound pretty!!!
They are. I ordered my original blue and splash hatching eggs from Kurt, and hatched those out back in April of 2016. Those are now my parents that I am using now. Kurt also has the Black Australorps, and I plan on ordering some of those from him soon. He has good quality ones, and they are bigger than the hatchery ones and don't have those pinched looking tails.

Here's the 7 Australorp chicks from my New Years 2017 hatch. There are 7 splash, and 3 blue.

I now only have 1 blue and 2 splash chicks left. Anyways, I fixed some spaghetti for dinner tonight and I had some noodles left over, so I decided to take a few in to the chicks and feed it to them as a treat. Anyways, they seemed more interested in climbing up on my arms than taking the noodles. The blue chick started it, and then the 2 splashes didn't want to be left out of a spot on my arm, too.

I wish I'd seen this thread when I was incubating my Black Australorps! I set 6 Black Australorp eggs and the last one hatched this morning! So 100% hatch rate for them. Woop, Woop! They are a bit less vigorous than the other breeds I hatched, but they are doing fine. The biggest of the chicks in this batch weighing about 1.5 ounces at birth.

I'll post more pictures once I get them off my camera.

Don't worry. As soon as that Black Australorp one dries off all of the way, it will be active. Anyways, now you know where this thread is at.

My Black Australorp hatching eggs from Kurt should be here soon, as he finished his test hatch of the BBS Australorps with a 15 out of 17 hatch rate. So, his roosters been covering his hens.

Yes, they are all hatched and dried off now and plenty full of energy! They were just less active after hatching compared to the other breeds in the bator right after hatching.

I also hatched five Black Australorp x White Leghorn crosses. The white is dominating by far.

Is that sex-linked or not? My two to hatch yesterday and today!
