I've got babies!!!

7am this morning marks 21 days so I thought I would peek - visual confirmation of at least 4 chicks! Hoping to get a better look when I get home from work tonight and move the family over to the broody / brooder house.

Really enjoying seeing all the pictures of your hatches! Broody hens and all!

So far I only have ~4 external pips. No birds hatching yet. They seem a little behind compared to my usual hatch timing not sure why. U of A blues typically hatch almost a full day late though so maybe my roosters genetics are slowing it down a bit?

Hey, if you had some Black Australorps and made a trip this way, I'd give you a spare Splash Australorp cockerel that's about ready to start the crowing and breeding stage. That way, you could make your own Blues.

BBS Australorps are beautiful! It is part of the reason why I am raising blue egg laying birds that are BBS coloring like the Australorp. My first hen - the one in the first picture - is 1/4 Black Australorp, 1/2 White Leghorn, 1/4 BBS Ameraucana. She was hatched from an Austra-White egg. My parents used to have 2 big Australorps too, they protected the flock.

Congrats on all the ones who have hatched new little ones.

Missed the set date for Turkey but moved 25 into lockdown for a Sunday Monday hatched. Had to pitch 25 don't think the Tom in their is hitting the mark. Have not hatched a palm out of 2 hatches. Doing good on bourbon and narri hatches.

Well, my broody got up off the nest today and took the chicks to the feeder. One egg is not hatched and I am not surprised as it was questionable from my last candling.

Final stats:
Ordered 9 eggs from the intense egg layer mix from MPC, received 10 eggs.
Tossed 3 eggs on day 11, one clear and two scrambled.
6 out of the 7 remaining eggs hatched and are healthy.
60% hatch rate - what I expected from shipped eggs.

Of what hatched, now I have to figure out which chick is which . . .
1 x super blue egg layer
1 x blue ameraucana
1 x olive egger
1 x ameri-flower
2 x green magnolia

A good experience for my first time. My broody is taking excellent care of the chicks. I consider myself lucky!

My fingers are crossed. My candle light is not that bright and I'm still not certain what I'm really looking at. I didn't candle at all with my first broody in Feb and she hatched 3 of 5. 2 not fertile.

This broody was originally due on 5/9 but unbeknownst too us until day 3 (morning) when I closed her off, she collected additional eggs. Do they are likely due 5/9-5/11. Lol

Today is my target hatch day. Did hear chirps from the incubator late on Cinco de Mayo. Were a few pips this morning and as of an hour ago two hatched, wouldn't you know neither of them were the initial pips, and now have five piped in incubator. Two in the brooder with twenty-two to go and now 3 hours past time of day set three weeks ago....think it's going to be a long night...

That is an extremely, EXTREMELY good hatch rate on shipped eggs!!!!

I've hatched I think 4 out of ~3 dozen eggs shipped? Granted the first dozen were packaged and shipped so horribly I didn't have much hope and none developed.
