Before I got my pop door finished on my older/big coop I just left the man door open about eight inches, Enough so the birds could come and go as they wished, seems the magpies noticed the door 'ajar' and they would sneak into the coop and help themselves to the eggs in the nests. Not what I had in mind… so the missing pop door was reprioritized to the top of the list. The black and white intruders have not, as of yet, been brave enough to enter the coop through the pop door. But I am still watching!
Sidewing's advice a page or two back, regarding what happens in ones back yard, should stay in the backyard is quite sound. Kind of like the Las Vegas slogan…
AND does anyone here have Modern Game birds? I am looking into their needs for the upcoming winter. The DW seems to favor them, but it is up to me to house and ensure the survivability of said birds. Que that old 10cc song: "The Things We Do for Love."
On a brighter note, here is a photograph of my new OEGB SDW rooster out for a stroll this a.m.
Best to all and your birds,
