LOVE HER
I always have at least one chick that hatches out already hating life and chirping to high heaven! ALWAYS. Currently we've got 2, the last two that hatched are in there chirping their little heads off. I always wondered why some come out calm and quiet while some come out bossy and angry at life, right from the beginningThis post cracked me up! Reminded me of a chick we had this summer, she was in TERRIBLE shape, dried to the bottom of an incubator at school classroom hatch. We brought her home, doctored her up, but then when she was in the tote even WITH other chicks, this little baby was Screaming bloody murder. She could be heard throughout the house, I couldn't fall asleep and finally around 1:00am DS came down from his bedroom and told me, "Mom! I can't take it!!" We then made the decision to take her out to the coop and slip her under our broody. DS says, 'it's a bit like leaving a baby on a doorstep". I said, it is EXACTLY like leaving a baby on a door step. That Barred Holland Broody took the chick right in, she even catered to it above and beyond the rest of her brood. I would post her pic…but she is a White Marans… Anywho, in keeping with the thread, here is one of my Orpie Babies:
Roxanne, I appologise for not posting on your birds..

Hawks...and He runs as fast as the Road Runner.
Thanks to anyone who can take the time to add a comment.
She's pretty. I have a new love for Black Orps.
I don't have enough SOP knowledge to comment but even if I did- it's really hard to see them through the cages. Can you bring them out and take photos? I bet you will get some responses then.Hi ALL
POsted my 2 roos on here wanting comments of any kind. First time i posted a pic of any kind of my chickens but no comments at all
Guess everyone is busy with friends It is a busy time of year.
Well...Happy New Year to all
Sometimes the roos squash the side feathers in , or the girls could be loosing weight. Are you seeing a "waist" when you're looking down on them right behind the wings? Then a popped up cushion with some broken feathers on the sides and back. That's the Roo combined with not enough substance to those feathers unless he is just klutzy with one or 2 favorites. Watch and see.Do Orp pullets start to change shape a little after they have been laying a while? My BOs seemed wider before they started laying and now they look curvier after laying for a few weeks...
Thanks for responding.sorry about the run hardware cloth.Thick.Roxanne, I appologise for not posting on your birds..
It has nothing to do with being busy it has to do with me posting honesty.
I can't be honest because your cages are so tiny you cant see the bird. All I see is this tiny cramped cage. Sorry.
