Anyone out there from unincorporated Portland within the Washington County boundary? I want to get 2-3 hens for eggs/family pet, but can't seem to locate info on ordinances, etc. for this area. Pipe in if you are from around here and have chickens and know the ins and outs.

Years ago I lived in unincorporated Washington County with a Portland address (Rock Creek area) and had a pair of chickens and a pair of ducks. As far as I can tell, there are no county ordinances governing chicken-keeping, and of course Portland allows you several hens. The only laws I can find regarding animals in the WaCounty municipal codes deal with dogs. At the time we were told that we could basically have anything we wanted (as long as it didn't become a problem with neighbors, nuisance sounds, smells, etc.) but that was *years* ago, and we had very friendly neighbors. There may be building codes limiting your coop and run, I don't know anything about that.

I'd suggest waiting for more educated input than mine.

I still live in unincorporated area, but no longer a Portland address.
