New Call Duck Colors... what do you think?

Sorry just been so busy hatching these babies out! LOL

Just took the last one to my sister-in-law last night.

Got 7 out of 13 this time. the 6 were under another hen, and got out there and they were cold again. Just those six.

Wish I could fit 40 eggs under one hen LOL.

Not a good pic, will have to email my sis in law and see if she can email me pics... I only keep them until they fluff, she handles it from there.
She's got years on me in the duck department. And i've hatched some so tiny and they've made it with her help.

Not a good pic, but i didn't take any of them, had 3 bators hatching at once. These eggs (in the bator) never hatched, so left them in as bump arounds for the ducks. They get flipped over and have nothing to push against.

Do not be sorry! We are messing with you and anxious to see pictures. When you get a chance we just wanted to see your babies. At least you are getting some to hatch.

I would say OMG they have grown...but they are still tiny little things. BUT good Lord they are cute. Love the little bluey coloured one and the black with the white splodge on the front of his head on the last pic.

Sister said this was first grade graduation!

They are doing so well, thanks to my sister!

This was the first batch of the season, taken today.

Just to clarify things, that big blue bird in the back is not a DUCK, even though he thinks he is. That is Jose`.
Harriet, the little (I think) Apricot mallard, was born and only child.

Kate came to the rescue with a chick born the same day.

She was careful to pick me out a little rooster.

He and Harriet grew to be very tight.

There is just no way to break them up.

So, they make an odd couple, but who really cares? As long as she doesn't try to take him swimming this spring, we are good!

From there you can go to the advanced version:

Lilac is het for blue Bl/bl+ d/(d) opposed to lavender Bl/Bl d/(d)

I am curious myself how to distinguish them from normal splash B/Bl.
I guess it is in the flecks. Close up pictures?

If you want to breed a nice shade of lilac I recommend using 2 lilac parents. That way you can select the shade you want.
