Blue Eggs come from which breed of chicken ???? which breed do i need to have to get Blue Eggs ??? Does anyone sell birds that lay only Blue Eggs ??? to lay 90% Blue Eggs ???
Tell us about your Blue egg layers ....... tell us if you have any forsale ........ i know a lot of people LOVE the Blue Eggs !!!!!
 
If you go to the breed section on the main page it tells you what color of egg each breed lays. I only know of 3 breeds that lay blue eggs
Ameraucana's and Aurcanas(sp) and Some Easter Eggers.
 
Easter Eggers all carry the blue egg gene. They are a mutt variety not a breed.

Ameraucana, Araucana and Cream legbars are the blue gene breeds.

Here on BYC you'll see EE's and many Ameraucana, Araucana not so much, in the hatching eggs for sale section.

Private breeders.
Cream Legbars are not an acutal breed in iteself. They are a autosexing bird, which means that they are hatched out certain colors that will determine if they are roosters or hens. They are not APA aproved.

well, they are a breed, but a newly imported one, which is why they are not APA approved.
this is from a UK site, which is where they come from
"The Cream Legbar is quite an old, now very rare in its true form, pure breed."
saying they are not a breed makes them sound like a mutt, like an olive egger...which is the green egg laying mixes of ameraucana x marans, but cream legbars are in fact a pure breed

Not only are Cream Legbars available from Green Fire Farms, who imported them from the UK to the USA, but now there are quite a number of BYC people here who are selling hatching eggs, and sometimes chicks. Green Fire is a BYC advertiser so you can see the links on these pages sometimes...

Are you familiar with the egg color charts?? It shows the range of eggs that are called blue....

my cream legbar lays around C15 on that chart... I think I am going to breed for A1, A7 or A15. Realize too, that each computer monitor shows the colors in a slightly different way. .

They are BTW, just fabulous birds.....should you decide to get some, you will most likely love them.
