Smoky Mtn East TN

Stopping in to say HI!

I used to be on the E. TN thread a lot. Hated to see that it has been closed. I'm from Scott Co TN.
Glad you stopped in.

I think most of us used the E. TN thread and were left hanging when it was shut down.

well ill have chickens again sooner than i thought, as my buddy who got some moved out of his gf's house, for now at least, and asked if i wanted them (last time they fought and he left, she all his/their caged pets starved, except the dog and ferret that were loose). not the chook breeds probly id chose to have but bantams at least, and i just cleaned the coop out to take over to him, along with some more supplies.. chickies for me! chickies for me! lets hope they dont start crowing too soon and land lord comes snooping and asking what i all have, even though all of my animals put together or seperate (even the pigeons. lol), are better behaved, cleaner, and quieter, than any one of any of my neighbors dogs are, at any given time, not to mention most of the neighbors themselves or most of their kids..
Good luck with both the kittens and the chicks. I seem to have chicks running out my ears right now.

WELCOME! From carter co.
x2 but from Jefferson county.

TNchick... (stacy, right?) ... that picture you use as your icon/avatar is great. LOL I like that. I don't like pink and I'm not big into tractors, but if I saw that as I went down a country road it would make me smile.

laughingdog... good luck with the kittens. I never have much luck finding good homes for the ones I get tamed down. I never have great luck at it. I can get them tame... but the finding homes part, that is the trouble. Congrats to all those who just hatched... especially if it was your first run at it. Can you feel the addiction already building up in you? Soon every clean egg you see will look like a chick to you and you will feel compelled to hatch it. WHAHAHAHA
lol I'm Kelly. Wish I had that pink tractor. I'd so drive n use that thing. I still don't know why it was shut down. I didn't read anything that gave a reason why. I meet some of the E. TN group last April at a chicken show meet up. The next month I ended up heading for a divorce. Took 5 long months to get that over with. Ugh! So I was not on the forum much. Did stop by a few times. Well I'm glad I found this thread! :)

If anyone is interested I may have some extra EE chicks. I have had way more hatch than I thought would. I will know more in a few days but if you are interested I am located in Jefferson county near Dandridge. Just PM me for details. Thanks

my gma just got what from what seeing on here and other places are four orpingtons, as she wants to have some fresh eggs. one is tiny and has some lacing to wings and tail though, and a lot richer gold than the rest, but all a richer color than usually see. so the spring chicken bug must be going around.. well all the ones i got from buddy, are doing ok, except the younger one that was from different place and has top beak burned off (the bottom healed and now ok, and top now looking not as bad).

can the top beak grow back some or at all when it grows and continues to heal more from me treating it?

Does anyone know the entry info for the newport show? Will be getting to keep my silkies and call ducks at my parents house so thankful for that. Have plans on newport in may if dr allows it.

laugingdog-

I don't know for sure but I would think their beaks continue to grow. IMO the beaks would be similar to their nails and if they didn't continue to grow they would wear them down to nothing over time.

Here's a couple of links to help people find upcoming shows in our area (I think someone else has posted at least one of these before):

http://www.poultryshowcentral.com
http://www.chilhoweepark.org/EventCalendar1.html

Also wanted to add in with the EE chicks will be some OE chicks.

ETA: to hopefully correct the first link.
