First Time With Cornish X's

Coralie, outstanding set up you have. This is the first time I've seen it. La. specifications and all?

You mean his "killing shack"? Haha! He actually used all recycled materials to build the deck. It did end up being useful, as the sun was pretty brutal yesterday. That should've been remedied by starting processing much earlier, but he had last minute things he wanted to fix. We ended up getting a jet burner and propane tank to heat water, and it worked great. All we were missing was an extra cooler, we were pretty tight on space towards the end.

Husband is a safety officer, hence the fire extinguisher

LOL I didn't even see that at first glance! That setup is awesome! So glad you were able to put it to use. Congrats! :)

I like your processing setup!

Mine are a bit older than yours, and they are getting huge. We still have 11 left to do. Hoping to get them done by the end of this weekend.

We have 7 females left, I am regretting letting these get so huge. They will be 9 weeks old tomorrow, and the plan is processing later this week.

I'm starting to feel like I won't be able to eat chicken for a long time

7 remaining older females were processed yesterday. My husband is amazing and he did most of the work.

Weights were good, and big. They were 9 weeks old. 5.4lbs, 4.93lbs, 4.78lbs, 6.2lbs, 4.76lbs, 6.5lbs, 5.16lbs.

We still have 10 younger ones, they are 6 weeks old. They are definitely smaller than the fermented feed fed, tractored chickens. They are a good 1-2lbs less than they were at the same age. Coincidentally we have 5 males and 5 females. Their weights are, however, quite on track with the weight gain guides I have seen.
6 week males:
3.98lbs
4.22lbs
4.05lbs
3.6lbs
4.05lbs
6 week females:
3.15lbs
3.68lbs
3.6lbs
3.29lbs
3.42lbs

These have all been free-ranged, fed dry food. Their weights are about 10 days behind the fermented fed and tractored chicks. They have been moved to the tractor, with fermented food.

We also have 5 freedom/red rangers out somewhere. I made the mistake of mixing them with red sex links, and new hampshire reds, and I really have no clue who is who. One I'm pretty sure is a red ranger, 6 weeks old and 2lbs. I'm hoping the others will become more obvious as they get older! I'm leaving those free ranging with the layers.

Well that says it all, get them all on fermented feed. You have done so well. Better than most. So proud of you.
