We have had our 3 hens for a little over a year now. I checked my association rules before we got them and I did miss the part about no poultry. In EBRP you can have 3 hens legally. I am now in the process of amending the bylaws or asking for variance. I have talked to all my surrounding neighbors and they are all with me.

There was a formal grievance from a little old lady across the neighborhood b/c a little bird told her I have "live" chickens. And it's against the bylaws. Anyway, it is going to be brought up at next board meeting. My husband and I requested the date and time so we could be present and have started a petition.

Anyone have any other suggestions that may help my cause. We have no children (i can't have any) and these are my kids. They are all named and I pick them up and snuggle with them daily. My stomach hurts thinking they can tell us we can't have them.. Also does any know the recourse if we keep them anyway???

Thanks,

Lisa

Someone recently posed a great handout they made to help make their case, I'll see if I can find it. It certainly helps that all your immediate neighbors are behind you. I've never had to deal with an HOA, and this kind of thing cements my desire to never do so (when you like GIANT dogs, HOAs don't tend to workout well either).

See the great letter they used here:
