Ugh. The pond!

On a happy note I think the spotted salamander survived.

On the misery note, digging sticky mud SUCKS!
I have resorted to using my hands to scoop globs out of the filter pit and toss it into the wheelbarrow. Then clamber out of the hole and scoop it out of the wheelbarrow and toss it onto the berm until I removed enough to make the wheelbarrow light enough to push. And it reeks in that pit. I already uncovered one very well rotted frog.

I'm trying to repair the walls that washed out but the cavities are so deep that the mud just starts to slide back down.

Geez DL...what a PITA!
Anyway to cover the areas from rain fall?
No.
We have at least 3 days with no rain coming. I think I can get the rest of the hole dug for the bottom drain (BD) and trenched into the filter pit, set the settlement tank (ST), get the skimmer installed, hook it to the ST, connect the ST to the BD and set the BD in concrete by the end of the day tomorrow.
Then Saturday I will spend trying to get the walls to stay in place, finish installing the bricks around the perimeter to the water level and add mason sand to the floor and shape it to pitch to drain. Then I'll be able to install the underlayment and liner on Sunday and start filling it.
