I posted about my chicken Nellie on here a few weeks ago. I noticed a few strange droppings that were very liquidy/mucousy with a little blood and her crop seemed a little squishy. She was also lethargic and listless an just wasn't herself.

When I asked about it on here everyone said to treat her for coccidiosis, but our vet thought otherwise. We don't have an avian vet around us but we talked to our equine vet and were told that it's possible she had some sort of crop impaction and most likely not cocci. So we've been tubing her with mineral oil, and giving her probiotics. But her poop continued to stay very loose and wet.

Now yesterday I noticed what appeared to be fresh blood in her poop, and this morning her poop was nothing but blood. Help!!! She's normally a pretty good layer but I don't think she's laid an egg in awhile, but the whole flock has slowed down laying recently so it's hard to tell who's not laying. She had a few decent days but went downhill again yesterday and today and I just don't know what to do to help her!

Is this something I should just go ahead and treat with corid? Could she be egg bound? Or could it be something more serious? I'm afraid we've been treating for the wrong issue this whole time and now she's gotten worse!

Nellie and one of our other chickens are also losing feathers here and there and their feathers look really rough. They never fully molted in the fall so idk if they are halfway molting or if there's a more serious issue as to why feathers are falling out. They don't appear to have any mites or lice and the other hens feathers look good.

I also don't know if these issues all tie in together as one or if they are caused by different reasons. I will say that the other rough looking chicken Suzanne had a crop impaction a year ago and stays fairly thin these days no matter how much we feed her, so I'm wondering if the impaction caused the issue in Suzanne.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know, I'll probably put her on corid tonight just to try something, but I'm at my wits end and I don't want her to suffer.

Can someone please answer my questions? Ive given her corid in the water and dewormed her last night. This morning shes still pooping mostly liquid and blood. I fed her last night and her crop was full when i went to bed. But today her crop is still full but it feels like its mostly liquid.

I'm sorry about your hen. I don't know what is wrong, but here's a bump.

My only suggestion would be to keep her away from the others until you know what's wrong. I know it may be too late now.

Do you have a cooperative extension in your area? Even one in your state? You could try calling them.

Good luck. These things are always so hard when you don't know what your dealing with.

Thank you for replying! We do have her separated and in the warm garage. I doubt it's a serious disease because we haven't introduced any new hens and we never take them anywhere. All the other hens seem fine. I feel like it may be something going on internally, or maybe a blockage that's past the crop, but I guess I'll have to wait an see if the corid helps things by tomorrow. It's just so frustrating not knowing what exactly is wrong.

We got the safeguard pelleted dewormer, I think it's labeled for goats, I didn't want to mix the liquid dewormer and liquid corid together. I put a little plain yogurt over the pellets and she ate a small handful of them. I don't know what it means but her crop, which usually stands straight up, has flopped over.
