My Duck is coughing

hi everybody..i found a baby duck like a month ago wandering around n stuff...it was all yellow and scrawny lookin now its 98% white...i think its a pekin duck...its been cool since ive had it...but now its coughing...sounds kind of like a dry cough...wondering what it might be...went to a feed store yesterday...they shot me antibiotics...some stuff called duranycin-01...im just wondering what it might be...dont want the lil fella to keel over and die on me..
 
I don't know anything about duck coughs, sorry! Can you get him to a vet? @casportpony do you know if that antibiotic would work on a duck?
 
nah...i wish i could (take him to a vet)...but im on hard times right now...cant afford it..
 
Many antibiotics will work *if* it's a bacterial infection, but the hard part is in picking the right one. Coughing could also be a sign of a parasite infection, and to treat that, one needs a wormer like Safeguard. Coughing could also be from a fungal infection and antibiotics won't treat those.

Does the duckling have any discharge from it's eyes or nostrils? Have you checked the inside of it's mouth for abnormalities? What does it's poop look like? Do you keep in in a dust free enclosure?

If it really is coughing and not learning to quack, google gapeworms and capillary worms in waterfowl, both can cause coughing.

It doesn't have no discharge...just checked his mouth...didnt see anything too far out...their tongues look weird...there might be a lil dust in the enclosure...i have to keep it indoors...theres no where to put it outside...and theres alot of cats around here..ill try to take a video of it...i noticed the coughs are a lil softer...dont know if thats good...before it sounded like it was sneezing or something.....
 
its poop varies...sometimes it was like green slimy lookin...when it would eat spinach n greens..pretty much whatever i gave it is what the poop looked like...more or less...its poop is solid now...cuz i bought some duck feed...brownish...but sometimes it comes out white...and with bubbles..
