Because if you can minimize the main aspects of care, you can have more free time, increase your flock, do other chores, work on something else, etc. Because your time and energy are limited and precious. How do I have time to mess around with small chickens? And brooders? And moving 8 week old chicks from brooder to the chicken run in a pen to acclimate to our flock? How could I have time to care for my family, plus all this?? You have to simplify a few key things. Water is one of them.
