So, I'm trying to play around with the turkey color calculator to see what I'd get from Rex and my Royal Palm hens, now that I no longer have a Royal Palm tom...

I was told he's blue slate, BUT his brothers apparently had some red to them. Here he is. What do we think? Just slate? He does have some red tinge to his feathers towards his tail.

Please excuse the mud, this was taken last year at the height of mud season. Also excuse the old nest frame I was in the process of throwing out, lol. It was spring clean-up day.

He's got Petrie's poults under him in this picture He would poult-sit and keep them under him while she took a break.

This is normal for a Blue Slate. The Self Blues (aka Lavenders) show it even more.

Blue Slate tom over Royal palm hens will produce 50% Tri-color Mottled Blacks and 50% Tri-color Mottled Slates.

Updated pics of this guy. Still not 100% sure what he is. He has some definite barring in his wings. He would have to have a split bronze/black base to have the barring in his wings. He has some grizzled looking feathers also in his wings, tail, and breast.

The Harvest Gold Tom and my blue sweetgrass hen's poults are hatching. So far there are 3.

I get so annoyed at the hens because they pluck the lovely beards off all my toms. They get all they want to eat, good 18% protein feed, oyster shell, fresh straw... and they want beard hair.

Mine get 20% protein all flock.

So do mine. Although they mainly pluck the chickens tails and hips. I assume it's all about dominance
