about how old is she?*horse*

Of course odds are an older horse needs to be in lighter work, and in general, in dressage, we wouldn't 'advance' a horse to a higher level after it reached a certain age. Since a horse at any level above second is a rarity and valuable, it never seemed to be a problem. And staying at the level they stop at, they're pretty comfortable for some time. Then eventually the day comes when they need to drop down, then drop down a little more, then to light work, then to hacking, then to the pasture full time and enjoy yourself mama because you sure as heck earned it.

Fact is though, at twenty with no windpuffs or anything, who knows when the day will come.

The oldest horse on record, is Old Billy a barge horse on, I think the Erie Canal, who supposedly lived to age 65. A good lot of it retired, but retired in style.
