Hey everyone. I wanted to build a new aviary specifically for ornamental duck species. About 3 months ago my previous aviary started to deteriorate and didn’t have safe living conditions for my birds so I decided to start new. That said I am still new to keeping exotic ducks so any help is appreciated. In this new aviary I plan to keep at least 4 pairs of ducks. What size aviary is recommended for that amount of ducks? How much water should they have access to? What material is best for a duck aviary? How high should should the roof be? Pictures would be very much appreciated as well. Thanks.

Ring teal, redhead, pintails, wood ducks. The design I had in mind was a dome style enclosure with nylon netting surrounded by hog panel and hardware cloth to keep predators away, although I’m open to design ideas. Thanks.

This is mine. I like the design a lot, the only problems are our brutal winters here. I covered it with plastic this year, but because of our frequent high winds here and the pitch of the top the plastic tore pretty quickly. My concrete pond is amazing though. If that's an option I 100% recommend it.

Attached shed, super helpful in summer to brood ducklings in, quarantine sick birds, store all of my feed and supplies, and shelter in winter.

My only other struggle is keeping plants alive in it. The ducks love to nibble plants.
