I feed a 50/50 ratio of a game bird finisher micro pellet and free range mix. I have 2 x metal garbage bins side by side for easy mixing. Every Friday they get cooked rice or pasta with 3-4 eggs mixed through and 3 x tins of sardines in olive oil. They do of course get table scraps but they don't stretch far between 50 birds. Before I started them on the game bird finisher MP they were getting the average layer mix but I wasn't happy with the wastage , cause they just wouldn't eat it. The micro pellet is a little more expensive but they eat it. Partly because they don't see it in amongst the grain.
Purina have a similar product 'Game bird flight conditioner ' . I have a mixed flock so I like the fact that it is low in calcium 1.35% . Calcium carbonate on free take for the layers of course.
Is the game bird finisher high in protein ? I've never heard of free range mix. Is this the actual name of it or what should I look for if I were to ask for it at a local feed store ?
