broody hates latecomer chick

there was a one-day lapse, and a final chick hatched under broody. for some reason, she is extremely mean to him. he seems normal and has caught up with chick skills. he isn't even the smallest. should i take away all the chicks and raise them indoors? she pecks his head hard and i even saw her claw him out of the way.

he was born early yesterday, he is exactly one day old.

If you feel that the chick is going to be harmed I probably would remove it.

thank you. i wouldn't want to take just one away, though. i think i'd want to either take all or none.

I have had to take chicks away from a first time broody. Also I have read where broodies will single out a chick because it is a different color than others, or perhaps because she knew something was wrong with a chick and was culling it. When you put feedstore chicks in with a broody to raise--sometimes they take them with no problem, sometimes they will kill them.
