Can I raise black australorps and barred rocks together?

Welcome to byc. I am sure you have gotten good advice from a lot of members. I only have 11 hens along with 5 roosters. My flock is a wide variety along with barred rocks and australorps. There has really never been a problem with pecking order. I do keep 2of my roos separate from the rest but in the same pen. I have 3 American game hens, bantam roo, 3 giant roos 8-9 pounds, Americana, rir, cochins, red star, and sexlink. Some are older than the others. I try to add a few each year. I hatched out babies last spring and ended up with 3 roos. I'm going to buy more this year and try hatching more. Once you get a nice variety of chickens you will find that they all will work the problems out themselves without a lot of bloodshed. I know from experience that the more chickens you introduce to your existing flock the less likely you will have problems with pecking order. Less likely you have fighting. I hope this helps you with your future of raising chickens.
