Confirmation I’m Understanding (Or Not)

After sixty years I’m back to raising chickens. I have purchased a black Ameraucana rooster. As I understand from lurking here the past couple of weeks, if I cross him with any of my hens (Australorp, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, etc.), the resulting hatch will be Easter Eggers. If I’m correct on the first point, I can expect about half of the hens produced to lay colorful eggs (blue, green, etc.)?

Please forgive my ignorance. I am at the beginning of this reboot. Thank you for your help!
