I like the dirt and sand methods. It really adds action to your picture.Try gently tossing it, or flicking the sand, or buying a small airpump to get a burst of air to make the sand fly up. With dirt, it's easier because it's finer grain but I think the same methods can be applied, but just in different ways.

It's so fun, but I had to sit outside in the blistering heat breaking up all the large clumps of dirt and sifting the other ones out and picking out every single blade of grass that made it into my container.
