Cubalaya Thread For Sharing Pics and Discussing Our Birds

You got it :)

If I'm remembering correctly, the actual color for Cubalayas is cinnamon. In America, we lump it in with wheaten (the girls are a dark wheaten), and the color is called BBR by the American Poultry Association.

What you have is an actual red duckwing (ie BBR) Cubalaya - not a cinnamon/wheaten that is being called BBR by the breed standards.

Confusing, I know.

I checked the website and they are using the same pictures for their birds as Cackle Hatchery. So they might be drop-shipped from Cackle rather than having their own flock of them.

Either way, if you got them from that hatchery I'd say you have a pair of bantam Cubalayas. You hit the poultry jackpot.

Thanks for your help. Should I stick with this feed or do you know of another site or maybe FB group that specializes in Cubalaya Bantams?

There is probably a FB group. I am one of six people left in America that doesn't use FB, so I couldn't guide you to any of those. As for forums, this is the most active Cubalaya forum I've come across so far.

Anybody have a clue what's up with this Cuban Bantam Pullet (10 weeks old)? I have isolated her and feeding chick crumble only and fortified water. She seems better today. Keeping her movements restricted. Daytime crate by friends and night no roost with small crate in coop. Eating and drinking and pooping.

Hello. Im from Germany. Im Happy to found this side. Here are some of my Cubalaya.
