Dog thread!šŸ¾

@BobStuart do you know about genetics and diseases inheritance? Carriers? COI? Etc?

Just because the dog has lived long or looks healthy does not mean they canā€™t pass on health issues, that might not even appear in the first few generations. Not testing is how health issues become more and more common, it is even important in mixed breed dogs. Many disease can only be found either through a very specific test or by genetic tests (not wisdom panel or embark), some health issues can only be decreased in the breed by careful planning and studying of the pedigrees

have you researched the heritability of the cancer of your one dog? Just because the one you want to breed doesnā€™t have it does not mean that something is not being passed down through the generations

unfortunately having dogs since you are young doesnā€™t mean much and doesnā€™t really matter because of how quickly information is changing, unless you continue to research and keep up with the new information

there are all ready far to many badly structured, unhealth tested, temperamentally unsound, mutts that have no purpose and they are mostly the ones who end up suffering (dumped, irresponsible owner, abusive owner, neglected, have health issues, etc)

and what are you going to do if there is a complication in the pregnancy?just hope nothing goes wrong or they are lucky?

If there is a problem I will take her to the vet

My sweet girl, Sunny. She was a rescue. Mountain View Cur, her tail is naturally short, or at least that's the breed standard. She loves to run and is a big ol' scaredy cat, couldn't hunt with her if I tried.
