If other countries are doing things that we can LEARN from why not? Is this country so perfect and managed so very well that we can't open our mind to some ideas that might help us? Why should we leave OUR country when we have the courage and the will and desire to make OUR country better?
News flash: This country has ALWAYS had socialist programs. Maybe we should have kicked that darn Roosevelt, Eisenhower and Reagan out of the country.

I am an American and I have never once suggested that someone did not deserve to live in their own country for wanting to make it better or holding a position contrary to my own.

Well then, shall we enact citizenship tests? Round up all those who don't think like you do and ship them off?

The America I love is a democracy. It guarantees the right of free speech to all of its citizens. From the founding of our nation, we have celebrated the idea that the government reflect the will of its people. All of its people. Not just the ones who like or benefit from the status quo. Not just the ones who think alike. At no point in our country's history have we ever tried to take away citizenship with all of its rights and responsibilities because a citizen saw a flaw that could be made better. I suppose you would have invited the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, r. to move to China for daring to criticize his country? Or the suffragettes who thought women ought to have the right to vote? Or those members of Congress who fought to pass the Keating-Owen Act to end child labor?

You know, your attempts to put words in my mouth and to decipher my thoughts are not as subtle as you think. I have no solution to the healthcare debate as I believe there isn't one that is fair by my definition of fair. I need not defend my position the facts speak for them selves the system is a poor one and little old me is not going to fix it and I have news for you you are not going to either.

Patience seems to be losing patience

Being offended is clearly a choice. Or am I wrong on that also?

I for one have never worked for a poor person. This whole mindset stinks it is another attempt to use compassion to keep the poor poor so the perpetrators can feel good about taking from the rich. Telling the poor that the rich owe you something is not the message to tell them. Hard work and determination in the face of adversity is more truthful but that tough love.

Chickened, I am not making you out to be anything. You are doing that very well on your own.

So your latest eligibility test seems to be that people who pay taxes should get assistance from the government. Since all Americans pay taxes, than you really should have no problem with universal health care. But again, you seem to believe that only you have a right to assistance. You deserve to have other taxpayers pay for your gas, your electricity, your internet, your retirement, your roads, your feed, your health care and so on.

It's not a position I find defensible.

We have a representative government not a democracy.

Roosevelt, Eisenhower and Reagan put a broom or shovel in the hand of the poor not a credit card with zero interest.

Representative government is a type of democracy.

Democracy is a pack of wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner, someones' quote on BYC

Taking advantage of a free education requires discipline and hard work , taking advantage of someones generosity is plain wrong and requires no effort as they deliver it to you free.
