We just built this handy dandy little brooder for ducklings and seek recommendations for bedding. We used old towels in our bathtub the last time we ordered ducklings and the smell was, shall we say scintillating.

So, outside we go, but we don't want to mess with towels again. Our best idea so far is pine shavings over a moisture barrier. Any other ideas out there? Thanks!

Depending on the population density in your brooder, i would start out with pine shavings for 1-2 weeks and then switch over to straw. Our spring ducklings started to smell terrible in the second week and we endured the smell in the garage for another week, the switched to straw and things got much better.
