On Reds you will notice the little bare spot (below the eye) on the males at about 6 weeks,and eye color at around 8-10 weeks changes.Yellows about the same for color of the eyes.

Not to highjack this thread but I traded some of my red eggs for yellow eggs and you can see the difference in the pic. My question is - my "yellows" do not look like either of yours. Are these really yellows or mix breeds?

There not pure Yellows,there either light colored Cinnamons or crosses,maybe Salmons?I have some splash Golden chicks that look like your second pic.All you can do is wait and see what you come up with when they get a little older.Also don't get discouraged on sexing yours the ones in first pic look pretty young for there eyes to change yet.

Keep me posted on what the others turn out to be.

No secrets I can spell out on the internet. 90% of it is just by watching their behavior. Roosters almost always act differently, but I don't know how to coin it. Sorry

Guess vent sexing (or lifting the skirt) is probably the best.
