Hatching incubated eggs in cartons?

Yaaay! Chip which is my 2nd egg iv ever incubated is pipping!! I'm so happy!!

tomorrow at night I think Chip will hatch! Here is a pic:

crossed for you. OMG, I gotta say it's a tie for me, lol. I've never hatched duck eggs but I've gotten them as 3 day olds. Can't wait to see what it will be like day one for you. I plan to put 6 duck eggs in the bator tomorrow

i've always hatched laying on their sides but have been following this thread and decided to give it a try with them in a tray, here is the first one out.

So far the tray seams to be more struggle for the chick to get out but it also keeps them from knocking the other eggs all over the place.

Putting a small soft toy in can really help with lone chicks, or even a mirror. She can see how pretty she is then!!

Thanks, we're up to 2 out of the shells, even tho one has went back in a few times (something else i'm not liking about hatching in the tray). Daughter is having the time of her life watching.
