how do I edit an older post?

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand since it's hard to tell exactly what you want in that page and what you want it to look like.

What first post thread are you trying to copy from and then put into an article page?

Actually I just want to know what that page is. Do we only have article pages now or do we still have a way to do a web page?

"BYC Pages" (like we had before) and "articles" are the same things, but now you have way more features, tools, and options.

Like before you can create as many new pages as you want. The main differences now:

  1. You can give other people access to edit the page if you want (and remove that access later)
  2. There is a history of changes so if you mess up (or someone else who has edit privileges messes up) you can revert back to an older version of your page.

I also think this is a disadvantage not being able to make updates to the original post! I thought someone didn't like me that I couldn't do it anymore and was ready to "abandon" the site because of it!

Weird that you do this, and that you do not have a back up from your IT people instead! You suggested "someone" forgot to log of... its a thread they started they should be more careful, esp if its "their" thread. I think it is WORSE if you have wrong information or something went wrong and you cant go back and fix the issue, someone could really have a bad issue with their chickens!

I am new but how are you supposed to "communicate" like a forum in an article or page??? just wondering....

I don't want to start issues, but it already seems as though it is.... I really enjoyed the site until this : (

Sorry, I'm confused- you can edit a post for some time after it's posted- just not forever (days/weeks later).

There is no 'back-up' issue, the new forum software is not the same as the old software, there are more features and ways to use the site now, and there are going to be 'growing-pains' because of the changes and new numbers of forum members.

To 'communicate' in an article you would just 'comment' on it, just like 'replying' to a forum thread.

To update a particular post for example say you had a typo on drug name in a thread about a sick chicken- and therefore mentioned the 'wrong drug' and the 'wrong drug' is dangerous to chickens- a Moderator can help you fix that post.
(although in this case it's problaly too late anyway and the person with the sick chicken posted about it's death already)

All you would have to do is send a Private Message to a moderator with a link to the post OR flag the post with the change needed.

This policy has always been in place but a bug prevented it from working properly.
There are also suggestions for get around it.

if you need the occasional title edit to update a swap or chicken stock or show, send me a PM and I will change it.

I won't change just any or all titles, so if you are going to need constant title changes, or if you want to update stuff like games, you can read the suggestions here

Otherwise there are few instances of a non on-going thread needing updates.

Thanks ......I have stated..........."I am certainly not arguing, just stating an opinion. I will use my file library but I thought it wonderful to be able to share information and gather info with others. And I did honestly think someone Banned me from editing my own post! That's what brought me to this thread in the first place.

I am certainly not wanting to make an enemy, without opinions there would never be change for better either."

I need to update our Cochin Breeder Directory thread - please help. I just reported the thread to the moderators - is that the correct procedure?

I need to update the FP of a thread of mine, its already out of date. And its not exactly chicken related, so I'm not sure if I should create an article or not.
