how do I edit an older post?

Thanks ......I have stated..........."I am certainly not arguing, just stating an opinion. I will use my file library but I thought it wonderful to be able to share information and gather info with others. And I did honestly think someone Banned me from editing my own post! That's what brought me to this thread in the first place.

I am certainly not wanting to make an enemy, without opinions there would never be change for better either."

@ Sally, conciser this- changing all your post into " :)" is WHY this rule is in place, you then quoted what you had typed but already erased... (see date stamps) ... that's WHY people can't 'retro edit' it's really annoying because we all lose what you had contributed to the topic.

you weren't making enemies but were simply unclear to me what you meant.

So your editing of your post proves the need for the (annoying) rule.

Forum threads are not backed-up the same way documents on a computer are- the backup would usually be an archive of currently non 'bumped'/posted to post, to back up a dynamic post would take lots of room and be counter productive to save every typo. the backups likely- (not exactly but close) also all post that are past the 'edit' date.

So I'm just trying to follow the new rules here. I re-created our Cochin Breeder Directory as a Member Page, and then started a new thread with a link to the new page. But the new page/article does not show up in my Profile under my articles. How do I get it to show up in my Profile under my Articles? WHAT DID I DO WRONG, AND DO I HAVE TO START ALL OVER?

The trouble was not people editing other members' posts.

This is something that was never supposed to be a feature. A bug was preventing a time limit from going into effect. Now it is working properly.

Hi Admin, Was wondering if you could help us out!

This thread cannot be updated any longer = https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...-cell-detatched-shipped-eggs/680#post_9703801

Wondering if somehow either in the title or the top of the first post noting that the Notes have been compiled and updated in an Article, PLUS a link to the ARTICLE?

This is where we are finallizing it since it cannot be changed anylonger....ARTICLE https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-101 also how do we add people on to make changes to the Article? Thanks so atmuch for helping!

If you click the edit button the article then scroll near bottom. It will be 3rd item below "edit summary". There it will say "Who can edit this article?" if you set it to specific members you can add the members name in a box below it.

Can anyone help out with a thread post that cannot be edited?

This thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/705152/pallets-hinkel-haus has been moved and updated with an ARTICLE showing complete details, as suggested in this thread....

I was going to ask for deletion of the thread but others have posted on it, so that's not an option as that's the entire reason stated in this thread and why you only have so long to edit posts....

My PROBLEM is that I keep getting Pm's asking for more info from the thread and I cant keep updating both! I copied and pasted the article for now on the thread, but I am not going to keep updating both with the same info.

I am asking if SOMEONE can PLEASE add a link on the top of the thread directing everyone asking for details to the ARTICLE?

The UPDATED INFORMATION is now in ARTICLE https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hinkel-haus-made-of-pallets-recycled-wood-pickets

Thanks so much for helping,

PSSSS fogive me as I have "flagged" and asked a mod for help.

AND I DO APPRECIATE YOUR HELP! I love BYC!
