I hope so, but from what I've heard it's not likely for a hen to keep sitting on eggs for more than two days or so after the first one hatches.
Please keep us informed.

Will do. I've garbed a heat lamp and set up a make shift incubator if I need it. Hope it works.

False alarm my barnevelder layed an egg under the barbecue and not the nesting box

her very first egg and not as dark as I thought it would be

just the 24 white rock chicks on the 26th of feb, but their not ready to lay yet... they are now just 7 weeks old an around 1 pound+ eating like piglets ... the 18 leghorns I have left are from the 26 I bought a year ago ..... the hens are doing better than I figured they wood with the drop of half the flock! I also sold 9/10 Wyandotte's that set the egg count earlier as high as 28 if I remember right?

probably just not thinking right ?? lol I have 18 laying leghorns with out a dought! when I got the new chicks the hatchery always sends me extras so there was my point of thought (30 new chicks 28 hens an 2 roo]s) ... 4 of the pullets didn't make the grade.....

planning on keeping 15 of the white rocks for layers! plus a single rooster. and then again this will probably change with the weather? lol
